You are invited to an online talk I will be presenting on 15 September, on the subject of self-publishing history books.
The event is for Vauxhall History and Friends of Tate South Lambeth and is part of 2021 Lambeth Heritage Festival – but is open to everyone wherever you are in the world.
It will be recorded and posted on YouTube – so don’t worry if you miss it. You can always catch up later.
I will be covering research, preparation of the manuscript, print platforms, crowdfunding, ebooks, marketing and sales, using my own experiences.
The focus of the talk will on how to survive the process and get a good result rather than on writing the book itself. Although I have three books listed with Pen&Sword, and therefore have experience of mainstream publishing, I have also self-published. In 2010 I wrote and self-published These Were Our Sons (under the name Naomi Lourie Klein), about the 547 men listed on my local war memorial. Now I am about to publish Under Fire: The Blitz Diaries of a Volunteer Ambulance Driver.
